I guess that when you’re in your 20s, things that are “physical” (sports, gym, karate classes) seem like the way to go. And that’s where physically oriented young men are going to be.

But on the off chance that some young woman here is looking for a guy who’s more into intellectual pursuits, maybe you should give a local astronomy club a shot.

The one with which I was involved was run out of NASA Goddard, which meant that the group was entirely out of school and mostly employed there. It also meant that the age-range was wide, but it certainly included single 20 somethings.

Monthly star parties were a lot of fun, especially if you get to travel away from the city.. Astronomy can be expensive (it tends to be equipment intensive). But clubs are a great way to get to share someone elses stuff for free and meet them in the process.

I’ll bet that many universities have organized astro-clubs too.

This almost certainly doesn’t count, but I recently joined a knitting club so I can meet girls. I’m finally living in the same city as my boyfriend and I want to meet some people who aren’t software developers. :P
