In the spring of 1819, a younger fellow by the title of Henry Shaw from Sheffield, England landed in the little French village if St. Louis, Missouri. There he established up a company selling components to the settlers that were heading out from the "Gateway to the West." Company was great and he was able to retire by the age of forty.
